Majestic Rome is a treasury of world culture. Here you can plunge into the atmosphere of antiquity and enjoy unique works of art. And we will show you how to do it on a budget by visiting the free museums in Rome.

Look for interesting excursions on the Sputnik and Tripster websites. Individual and group, no crowds of tourists and in Russian.

Exciting and ancient, Rome cannot but attract tourists from all over the world. A trip to Rome is a trip to the past, because ancient monuments are found here at every step. The city on seven hills with a rich history and culture will conquer anyone with a collection of masterpieces of world art stored in the museums of Rome.

There are very few free museums in Rome, however, by purchasing a card Roma Pass, you will receive discounts on tickets to museums, attractions and temporary exhibitions, and you will also be able to move around the city for free. The Roma Pass works as follows: the first two museums can be visited free of charge, and starting from the third one must contact the ticket office to receive a discount or a free ticket. That is, in the first two museums you will pass through the turnstile, and to visit the rest, you will have to stand in line. Therefore, choose the most expensive and popular museums for the first two visits to save time and money.

The Roma Pass allows free admission to the following museums (in addition to the first two free visits):

  • Museo della Repubblica Romana e della memoria garibaldina;
  • Museo Bilotti a Villa Borghese;
  • Museo Canonica;
  • Museo delle Mura;
  • Museo Napoleonico;
  • Villa di Massenzio.

A complete list of museums, attractions and activities to visit with the Roma Pass can be found here.

During Italian Culture Week and Museum Night, you can visit the museums of Rome that have joined the program free of charge. Museums also admit visitors free of charge to the European Heritage Days in September. The dates and the program must be checked on the website of the Italian Ministry of Culture: www.beniculturali.it.

If you haven’t found air tickets yet, then our detailed instruction "How to get to Rome cheaply" will be useful to you. Also read the material "Independent travel to Italy" - in it you will find useful information on travel arrangements.

Where to find cheap tickets? It is most convenient to do this using the search engines Aviasales and Skyscanner. To find the best price, check both and see tickets for different dates. Read also the instructions on how to search for cheap flights correctly.
