A travel guide made with love. Find out about the best vacation spots in Russia in March 2021. I'm sure it will even be difficult for you to choose one thing. Let's go!

Yalta

Yalta is a great opportunity to relax in March by the sea, and besides, it is inexpensive. It is still cold almost everywhere in Russia, but Crimea plays by its own rules. Do not expect to find summer here, but you will definitely get real spring.

The buds open on the trees, the grass turns green, snowdrops, hyacinths, daffodils bloom, and most importantly, almonds. The air is filled with aromas, so it's time to go to the mountains and practice naturalism. I recommend climbing the most famous peak of the South coast of Crimea - Ai-Petri. In addition, this is an ideal time for excursions: think for yourself, when will you still be able to see the Vorontsov Palace and the Swallow's Nest without the crowds of tourists? I also advise you to visit the famous Nikitsky Botanical Garden, which is especially beautiful in spring.

The weather in Crimea in March is very comfortable and pleasant, the sun warmly warmly, you can even sunbathe. The average temperature is +10 ... + 15 ° С, but can reach + 20 ° С. But at night, frosts are frequent - the thermometer drops to 0 ° C.

Krasnaya Polyana

You hardly need to advertise Krasnaya Polyana. You already know perfectly well why to go there: skiing, snowboarding, clean mountain air, beautiful views and excellent infrastructure. Trendy restaurants, hotels for every taste and budget, modern lifts and a million entertainment await you. For maximum enjoyment, I advise you to choose a hotel with a heated pool - you will definitely enjoy this kind of vacation. All in all, this is definitely one of the best places to go in Russia in March. In addition, the weather is mild here: at the beginning of spring, the temperature rarely drops below zero degrees.

Well, let's not forget that in just 40 minutes you will be transported from the world of snow-capped mountains to the subtropics on the coast. On the way, I strongly advise you to look into one of the most beautiful places in Greater Sochi - the canyon of the Psakho River. An excellent opportunity for one trip to visit the mountains and breathe in the sea breeze. The perfect combo!

Sochi

Spring Sochi is a blooming paradise and an inexpensive vacation.

Many tourists come to Sochi in the spring to see the bloom - this is called floritourism... We ourselves are going to go to the resort next time in the spring to admire this beauty. From the beginning of March, magnolias, Japanese quince, forsythia and cercis begin to bloom, and at the end of the month - sakura... Sometimes in early March, you can still find mimosa and camellia. It looks just magical! Come to the Sochi arboretum for the opening, because there are even queues at the entrance to the park and to the flowering trees.

Well, I’m already silent about the prices! After all, rest in Sochi in March will be two or three times cheaper than in summer. This means that you can afford to have a royally rest in the coolest hotels for a very reasonable price. Is it worth missing out on this chance? By the way, there are also hotels with heated swimming pools in Sochi.

Drive into the enchanting Psakho River Canyon, visit a yew and boxwood grove, and marvel at the fading beauty of Soviet heritage at the abandoned Ordzhonikidze sanatorium. We were personally delighted with these places. It will also be interesting to go to Abkhazia. We advise you to look for excursions on Tripster - they have a large selection.

Kaliningrad

Kaliningrad is often called a European city because of its atypical appearance for Russia: smart roofs made of bright tiles, burgher pubs and medieval buildings adjacent to standard Soviet high-rise buildings.

Why is it worth going on vacation in March to Kaliningrad? In order to visit ancient forts and defensive structures, walk around the Fisherman's Village and the embankment, visit the Museum of the World Ocean and the Amber Museum, as well as go to the famous Curonian Spit - see the sand dunes and curved pine trees of the Dancing Forest. We talked in detail about the most interesting places in Kaliningrad and its environs.

Spring Kaliningrad cannot boast of sunny weather. The Baltic region rarely pampers tourists with warmth, so it's not surprising that in March it is cloudy and foggy, + 6 ° C during the day, -1 ° C at night. But you will have a great opportunity to see a piece of Europe without leaving Russia. In addition, the rest in March is inexpensive. Find out how much a trip to Kaliningrad costs and where to stay inexpensively.

Karelia

Karelia is a fabulous land of dense forests, countless lakes, monasteries and beautiful wooden churches. We went to Karelia in the summer, next time we are going there in the winter.

How good is it to rest? Stop at a cozy hostel in some quiet and picturesque place, ride snowmobiles or dog sleds, cuddle huskies, feed reindeer in nurseries, look at 2000 amazing rock paintings and visit the mystical Vottovaara mountain (though, under the snow, it probably is not so impressive, but still). And if you are very lucky, you will see the northern lights, because in March it happens more often. Find out more about winter holidays in Karelia and see our travel planning tips.

Baikal

As beautiful as Baikal is in summer, in winter it turns into a real fairy tale. A huge freshwater lake becomes a giant ice rink. As a Transbaikalian, I will tell you that such beauty is definitely worth seeing. "Ice hunters" most often come to the lake in March, because the weather at this time is the most suitable: well, who wants to walk on the lake open to all winds at -50 ° С in January-February?

The most beautiful places with amazing bluish-white ice are located near the capes of Olkhon Island and the Maloye More islands. It is here that you can take pictures of spectacular ice splashes, caves, deep cracks, air bubbles shimmering in the sun and hummocks the size of a house. Imagine what tourists experience when they see fish through the Baikal ice at a depth of up to 40 m!

In addition, you can look at Baikal seals, visit shamanic and other interesting places, relax in a ski resort and even swim in the hot water of thermal springs in the bitter frost. Are you interested? Then read our guide to winter holidays on Lake Baikal and go ahead - buy tickets!

Baikal is one of the most interesting places to go to in Russia in March 2021. Yes, it's expensive, but it's worth it!

The real Caucasus

If you have already been to Krasnaya Polyana or you just do not want to bump your elbows in line at the lifts, but dream of skiing, then I advise you to pay attention to other ski resorts in Russia. I myself do not even know how to stand on skis, but I know all the most beautiful places in Russia - I will tell you straight, compared to the beauty of the mountains Elbrus and Dombai our dear Krasnaya Polyana just nervously smokes on the sidelines. It is here that you will find majestic peaks and the real Caucasus. I have not yet seen more beautiful mountains in Russia. I love these parts and go there whenever possible. In addition, skiing at these resorts is also very well developed: our friends skiers skated and were satisfied. And the prices there are more pleasant, well, let's not forget about the delicious Caucasian shish kebab made from juicy lamb.

Read our tips for a trip to the North Caucasus and find out about prices for holidays in Dombai. It will be pleasant and useful to have a rest in the sanatoriums of Kislovodsk or Essentuki. And to the most inquisitive travelers, I heartily advise you to go to Dagestan - just look how beautiful it is!
