Today we have to make a trip to one of the most popular holiday destinations - Helsinki.
One of the advantages of this holiday destination is the short journey. If you live in the northern capital, then you can get to this beautiful place in three to four hours, i.e. you can get to know the delights of the Finnish capital once a week.
This city is rightfully called “the daughter of the Baltic”. Its beauty and strength are drawn from the sea.
The center of the settlement is Senate Square. The main local attraction is the Cathedral. Its distinctive features are ideal shapes, noble colors and venerable age (the object was built at least a century and a half ago). If you go up to the top of the cathedral, you will be pleasantly surprised by the surrounding panorama, including the monument to Alexander II, the Senate building, the university and other attractions. The cathedral serves as a venue for festivals, concerts and exhibitions. It is noteworthy that you do not have to pay to attend these festive events.
The bronze sculpture of a sea nymph named Manta is a symbol of the city. Spicy moment: the nymph is completely naked. Near the fountain-monument on the Trade Square, both guests and residents of the capital like to relax. At one time, opponents of nude figures caused a two-year delay in the installation of the finished sculpture.
Another unusual object is the Chapel of Silence. This is a great place for solitude, meditation. This is the reason for the second name of the chapel - "sauna of the spirit". Outwardly, this attraction is similar to a large wooden bowl, which is located near a busy place - the Kamppi shopping center.
There are no problems with snacks. Finns are ardent fans of fast food. You can eat on almost any street. Here you will find kebabs, pizzerias, and cafeterias ... Be sure to visit the food market on the waterfront, where you will have the opportunity to enjoy delicious salmon. A walk along the embankment is darkened only by persistent seagulls snatching ice cream from their hands.
Santa's Village
With children, you can visit the village of Koyramäki, which houses the house of the most important symbol of the New Year - Santa. Here you can admire the buildings of the 19th century, the square and cozy courtyards, mini-farms with animals, a town hall, a water pump. Little ones will be delighted with the local playground. You can take pictures with Santa.
On the basis of the cafeteria of Baroness von Guggelbee, you can enjoy fragrant gluggi and gingerbread (these products are very much combined). Add to this all the delights of the gingerbread houses, among which the huge gingerbread hotel deserves special attention.
If you visit the village in the evening and at a temperature of 20 degrees, you can forget about the real animals (donkeys, goats, wild boars ...). Only toy animal prototypes will be available for your kids. If you wish, you can take part in one of the many master classes. For example, girls are invited to bake pies in the oven.
